Who cares what day it is! Who cares what happened today! Who cares what happened Yesterday, last week, last year.. Folks, its time to GET ANGRY! It’s time to feel the burn down deep in your stomach, to accept that the crap that holds you back sucks, and MOVE ON! I assure you, no person on this planet gives a DAMN about your insecurities, your lack of confidence, your current bank balance, your sales pitch, or your inexperience – SO WHY SHOULD YOU?
It’s time for a REVELATION, it’s time to design your master plan, it’s time to pull your finger out, stop making excuses and ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING! Forget about what could have been and MAKE IT HAPPEN! It’s NOT too late!
Forgive me for my brutish vernacular, it is merely a reflection of my current headspace and thoughts. I just turned of the television and I wanted to vent some guided anger towards the repressive things that hold people back from achieving success. I just finished watching a program where out of control teenagers are sent halfway around the world to families that are supposedly “strict”. The real question is why are these kids so unruly? Were they born that way? I don’t think so. Did they pick it up from their parents? I don’t think so.
The fact is that much like our economy is being repressed, so too are our discipline stores. Discipline is not simply a parent telling a kid that they shouldn’t drink alcohol or do drugs. Discipline goes WAY beyond that, and speaks to the heart of the matter. Discipline comes from the word disciple – in biblical terms the disciples followed Jesus and His teachings and endeavoured to repeat his actions and do what He did. If you have a faith in God as I do, then you will be familiar with the disciplines that make an effective christian. With regard to the teens on the program I was watching, the burning question that needs to be asked is; what SIMPLE DISCIPLINES should the parents have considered well before these teens reached their current state? In other words – what example should they have FOLLOWED and what things should they have DONE to place the social and emotional structures into the mind and hearts of their children?
So, If being disciplined means to FOLLOW and DO, don’t you think that its HIGH TIME you worked out what on earth WHO you intend to FOLLOW and and what you need to DO?
Finally, the key to discipline is about being CONSISTENT
. For goodness sake – if someone shovels dirt on your idea, or the fact that you are using discipline to change your situation, don’t wuss out, don’t change the topic, don’t apologise, don’t make an excuse – GET ANGRY.
Feed on their negative energy, inhale it, let it surge within you, then THANK THEM
for the motivation, and MOVE ON!
